About This Guide

Follow our Worship Guide, including readings, prayers, recommended worship songs, teaching, and discussion questions.

We’ve made this a mobile-friendly page so everyone is welcome to follow along on their phone (each section expands / collapses when you select the title).

Parts in bold are to be read by all.

Invitation

Let’s take a moment of stillness to prepare our hearts for worship and God’s Word. Invite God to speak to you in all that follows.

Opening Psalm (PSALM 34:1-8)

I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.

My soul will boast in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.

Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together.

I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.

Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.

This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles.

The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.

Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

Opening Prayer

Lord, you are the light in the darkness–the one whose presence we cling to in the valleys of life. In these moments of great anxiety we turn to you believing the words of this Psalm that those who look to you are radiant. That you will deliver us from fear. As we lift our hearts in worship, make us keenly aware of your presence. May we indeed taste and see that you are good. Amen.

Worship

Feel free to join together in song.

You can also listen to our curated worship playlist on Spotify from our Worship Team. This playlist also includes spoken audio of Caleb’s teaching, scripture readings, and other liturgy elements.

Gospel Reading (Mark 4:35-41)

That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, "Let us go over to the other side." Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him.A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?" He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" They were terrified and asked each other, "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!"

Confession

Lord, we confess how hard it is to trust you in the storms of life. We question whether you truly see us and doubt your power to save. When our circumstances are most perilous our faith seems so small. Help our unbelief and remind us that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow — not even the powers of hell can separate us from your love.

Assurance of Pardon

Jesus knows our every weakness—the frailty of our faith—and loves us still. Awaken to the promise of God’s Spirit granting you everything you need for life and godliness.

Intercession

Join together in prayer and ministry for one another. Close with the Lord’s prayer.

Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom and the Power And the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Generosity

During this time of uncertainty, it is important for us to continue to worship through our giving as a confession of the reality that we depend entirely on God’s provision. Further, it is our privilege to participate in extending His love to others. As we prepare our hearts to give, let’s say this generosity prayer together.

Lord, it is from Your goodness that we have received all that we have. With open hands we give back what was always Yours that your Kingdom might come on earth as it is in Heaven.

Take a few minutes to practice generosity to Trinity Grace Church. You can give online. After giving, have someone pray for generosity and provision at TGC in this season.

Ministry of the Word

We invite you to now watch the video or listen to the podcast for a message from founding pastor Caleb Clardy.

Caleb Clardy, founding pastor of Trinity Grace Church, teaches from 2 Corinthians 4:6-18 on the fourth Sunday of Lent, speaking from his office in Park Slope, Brooklyn on March 22, 2020.

Discussion and Prayer

Share what resonated with you. What do you sense God is saying? Take time to pray for and minister to one another.

Benediction

May we rest in the knowledge that the hands which made this very world hold us fast in every storm that we encounter. May we dwell in peace.
