July 17: Let's Choose Faithfulness

Dear families,

Join us in-person or on-demand to flip some pancakes and learn about the fruit of the Spirit of faithfulness.

Today, the story of David shows us what a faithful friend looks like when he helps Jonathan’s family. David made a promise to Jonathan and chooses to be faithful and keep that promise.

So we’re going to be asking each other: How can you be someone people can count on? It’s a good question! One that’s worth a conversation around the table or on a road trip this summer. Everyone needs someone they can depend on, and we have the chance to be that person for someone in our life!

With love,
Miss Elisa

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder (not baking soda)

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 1/4 cups whole milk

  • 1 egg

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method:

  1. Melt the butter and set aside.

  2. In a medium bowl, mix dry ingredients (flour, salt, and baking powder).

  3. Stir wet ingredients (milk and egg) into the dry ingredients.

  4. Create a well in the center of the flour mixture.

  5. Pour the butter, vanilla, and milk mixture into the well.

  6. Use a wire whisk to stir everything together until just combined. It will be slightly thick and lumpy, but should be well incorporated.

  7. Allow the batter to rest while heating a lightly oiled skillet or griddle to medium high heat.

  8. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake.

  9. Cook each side for 3-6 minutes, until lightly golden brown. Enjoy immediately or refrigerate or freeze.

  10. Optional: add toppings of choice (syrup, whipped cream, chocolate chips, fresh fruit, nuts). Incorporate fruit directly into the batter so each piece is fully coated before pouring onto the griddle. Chocolate chips or nuts can be sprinkled on top immediately after pouring batter onto griddle.
