Pentecost Sunday: By This He Meant The Spirit

“On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit…”
— John 7:37–39

Pentecost is coming, church. We look back to all the promises and the fulfillment. We look forward. God has promised the Holy Spirit to his church. This is the radical aim of God despite all obstacles, to fill our lives, to join us together, to give us a share in His life forever. And for that to happen now. What a gift.

This Sunday in the backyard of a barbecue joint in Gowanus, we will gather at the ancient stream with believers from across the world and across the ages to pray, Come Holy Spirit. The Spirit has come to us and is coming to us again.

There is space for you. Bring a friend along. We will be welcoming in new members. We are buying lunch for anyone that is new. Come and celebrate Pentecost with us. There is a fresh way God wants to fill your life.

Peace.
