CHILDREN’S MINISTRY DIRECTOR
Hours required: 15-25 hours per week (willing to discuss a full-time position if the candidate has the skills to take on other areas of ministry/responsibility while the children's ministry grows)
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and ultimate responsibilities and hours. We also offer a generous paid time off policy as well as professional development opportunities.
Role Description: The Children’s Ministry Director is a vital role in the life of our church family. We see raising young people in the way of Jesus as central to our calling as a church and this leader can expect support and investment from the leadership of our community. The Children’s Ministry Director is responsible for cultivating an environment where kids can learn God’s story and experience His love. This leader will build a team that is enthusiastic about partnering with families in the spiritual formation of their children.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruiting, developing and caring for TGC Kids volunteers
Managing supplemental paid team members while maintaining our culture in TGC Kids
Scheduling of Kids Team
Making and communicating engaging Sunday morning lesson plans with team members
Ensuring needed supplies and snacks are on hand each week
Overseeing set up and tear down with careful regard for rented classrooms
Creating and stewarding a safe and welcoming environment for kids on Sundays
Developing supporting programs to help kids come to know and respond to God’s love and to grow in Christ
Communicating well with parents, affirming and equipping them as the primary disciple makers in their kids’ lives
Collaborating with Worship Director on opportunities for kids’ participation in the worship service at regular intervals
Planning holiday programming/events for families (e.g., Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day)
Collaborating with the staff to ensure families who attend TGC feel well loved and valued
Being available to the rest of the staff for collaboration as needed; responding to communication from staff in a timely fashion
Managing Children’s Ministry budget
Key Requirements & Skills:
Christian leadership experience and an evident love for Jesus
Well organized with high comfort level working in a multi-tasking environment
Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative leadership style
Capacity to be flexible in approach and adaptable to changing situations
