For those embarking on the journey of walking alongside a parent in need, this training will introduce you to the Safe Families for Children movement, and equip you with best practices for connecting with a family.
Family Friends can serve a variety of roles depending on the needs of a parent. Just some of the ways Family Friends support families are as a listening ear, a mentor or tutor to a child, an advocate for mom or dad at school meetings, benefit and doctor's appointments, or as a dinnertime helper who is willing to spend an evening with the family and help in practical ways like preparing meals or cleaning up while building a friendship with the parent.
Regardless of what the parent identifies as his or her most pressing needs, we all need social connections that strengthen our families and empower us to provide the best possible care for our children.
