The Trinity Grace Church Residency Program is a unique opportunity to receive training from leading practitioners in church planting, urban ministry, preaching and leadership. It is designed for young leaders who sense a call to church planting and ministry in an urban environment. The context of the program allows residents to blend learning from mentors such as Jon Tyson and Robert Guerrero with on the ground experience serving across the eleven TGC parish churches, all while pursuing a master's or doctoral degree.
This program will range from 1-3 years depending on the readiness of the leader and will take place in the heart of New York City as part of Trinity Grace Church. We aim to select a small group we invest in heavily. They will have the opportunity to learn about church planting and urban ministry across a broad spectrum of contexts throughout New York. Additionally, they will be trained in leadership, preaching, multi-ethnic ministry, missional and vocational theology.
The residency will include robust theological training both internally and through a local seminary partnership. Residents will receive extensive training in church planting as they serve within existing Trinity Grace Church parishes. They will also have the chance to be involved with City Collective, which will increase their exposure to leaders doing ministry in global cities, and the Center for City Renewal, which will facilitate learning in the area of faith and work.
The program provides residents plenty of opportunities to do ministry both within Trinity Grace Church and with partner organizations around the city. Our aim is to help residents discern their calling, identify and develop their gifts, and deploy them to see the fame and deeds of God renewed and known in our time.
